At tellmeGen, we are constantly working to improve the quality of our service, which includes including new populations in our ancestry analysis. In June 2025, we launched the update from version 3 (V3) to version 4 (V4) of our origins test. This update was implemented automatically and free of charge for all users, without them needing to do anything.
The main difference between V3 and V4 is the increase in ethnic populations, going from 53 to 93 populations. This increase, along with the growth in the number of individuals in each population, has allowed us to refine the algorithm and improve the reliability of the results. As a result, the calculations of users' ethnicities are now more specific and accurate.
While some users may notice changes in their results with this new version, this is completely normal and does not mean that previous results were incorrect. The changes reflect scientific advances in origin and ancestry studies, making the new results more exact.
It is important to highlight that at tellmeGen, we periodically update all users' results to the latest version free of charge, notifying them of the update. If a user prefers the V3 results and does not wish to switch to V4, they can choose to keep their old results without any problem.
