The instructions for a correct saliva collection in genetic analyses are reflected inside the genetic kit that arrives at your home so that you have no doubts at the time of collection.
Before performing the genetic test
- You must not eat, drink, chew gum, or brush your teeth during the 60 minutes prior to taking the sample.
- To stimulate saliva production, you can massage your cheeks.
- The end of the swab must not touch any surface before taking the sample.
During the performance of the genetic test

Step 1: Remove one of the swabs from its wrapper, taking care not to touch the tip with your fingers. Discard the wrapper. Insert the tip of the swab inside the mouth and rub it against the inside of the cheeks to obtain as much saliva as possible.
Step 2: Insert the tip of one of the swabs into the tube and move it so that it mixes with the preservative liquid.
Step 3: Break the swab into two pieces using the notch located near the end. The end containing the saliva sample must remain inside the tube.
Step 4: Perform the same operation as in step 1 with the other swab.
Step 5: Perform the same operation as in step 2 with the other swab.
Step 6: Perform the same operation as in step 3 with the other swab.
Step 7: Next, close the tube with the cap once you have both swabs in the tube.
Step 8: To mix the swab with the preservative liquid, shake the tubes by inverting them about 15 times.
Step 9: Place the collection tubes with the saliva samples in the box.
Step 10: Place the box in the shipping bag (the large bag) and take it for collection.
Duo / Family Genetic Analysis: Once all users in the pack have completed the 9 previous steps, the final step is to place the cardboard box inside the shipping bag (the large plastic bag) and take it to the transport company that we will indicate to you at the end of this entire sample collection and registration process.
Storage of the saliva genetic test
The preservative liquid in the tube allows for adequate storage at room temperature (15-30ºC) for 12 months after sample collection. It is recommended to avoid other anomalous conditions.
