An Advanced test cannot be upgraded to the Ultra version; it is necessary to perform a new genetic analysis.
This is because they use different technology. Both the Starter and Advanced analyses are performed using a Microarray Chip, focused on genetic variants. However, the Ultra WGS (30x) analysis is a whole genome sequencing, a reading of the user's entire DNA. Therefore, a new sample is required to perform the WGS protocol.
The Starter and Advanced analyses analyze several million genetic variants, while Ultra reaches 3 billion variants. This also explains the difference in Raw Data size between services. The Raw Data for Starter and Advanced analyses weighs megabytes, while the Ultra version is about 90 gigabytes in size.
