How reliable are the results?

Updated on

Regarding the reliability of the results obtained in the Starter and Advanced range analyses, they can be analyzed from 2 points of view:

  1. Reliability of raw genetic data: At tellmeGen we use Illumina® iScan technology and the latest version of the Infinium Global Screening Array or GSA genotyping chip, which contains approximately 750,000 genetic markers and has been customized with 10,000 of our own probes. The reliability of the iScan system is 99.99%. The chip contains markers that are repeated multiple times as an internal quality control. On the other hand, at tellmeGen we apply a combination of genetic knowledge and computational power to significantly increase the number of analyzable variants with a DNA chip up to tens of millions. This imputation analysis allows us to be able to study variants that have been associated with diseases and were not present in the initial 750,000+ variants. With this, we achieve our goal: estimating each individual's genetic risk more accurately than ever. This important update allows us to significantly improve our predictive genetics process, which, as its name suggests, allows us to predict from a genetic point of view the probability of developing diseases or possessing complex traits.
  2. Reliability of genetic data interpretation: At tellmeGen, the information shown on the platform is reviewed by our team of doctors and geneticists. The information provided is based on studies that include at least 700 cases and 700 controls and have been published in high-impact scientific journals. Information on the analyzed genetic variations and references are detailed in the technical reports that accompany each of the result reports.
